RE: Ford 7.3 engine users?

Never owned an FCA that I could keep out of the shop. So I see a lot of advantage in a Ford. You should let my friend know that , he's been thru two 6.7 Powerstroke engines on his truck ,the first was a broken crankshaft , the second I didn't hear ,but it had to be replaced . I'll stick to the 6.7 Cummins . Maybe I just change my user name to Godzilla and troll Ram threads so I have some sort of self claimed credibility.

RE: Ford 7.3 engine users?

Heard the same argument when I had my ecoboost. Towed all through New Mexico and southern Colorado and never had an issue. Is the argument that the 7.3l isn't adequate or simply mine's bigger than yours? Because I find the whole thing pretty asinine.

RE: Ford 7.3 engine users?

Of all the reasons I select a tow engine, exhaust brakes aren't even on the list.

RE: Robot Tolls - At My Limit!

Probably could fight it but I also know my attorney charges $300 per hour.

RE: Robot Tolls - At My Limit!

It's not just Maryland they are all crooks, I paid to get on a toll road in Maine this summer, went one exit (about 3 miles) to a service plaza for food, and had to pay another toll to get back on the same toll road. I just got one from September for a truck I traded into a dealership in July and I was told that I am liable for it. How's that for a scam? That’s not possible unless you left the license plates on it? I've never taken the plates when trading at a dealership, but rethinking it. And this was no small dealership.

RE: TT shopping

Per the manual: A weight-distributing hitch system (Class IV) is recommended if you plan to tow trailers with a maximum weight over 5,000 lbs

I just use Clorox wipes.

RE: TT shopping

IMO a WDH is a must have. It'll help distribute weight and prevent sway. I would use one regardless of which trailer you choose. I've never had any maintenance on my slides other than I had one trailer with cable slides that kept breaking. I won't buy another with wires.

RE: TT shopping

You wouldn't have any trouble with the ones you listed if you have a 6k lb tow rating. Personally, I want room to move. With three people, I think you'll be tripping over each other. I really like a slide (must have for me) and murphy beds can offer great dual-use space. It really opens up the living area. Many similar layouts with different brands. https://www.highlandridgerv.com/rvs/travel-trailers/2024-range-lite-air/19mbh/

RE: Truck or Tahoe

A low tow rating could be because of the lack of a cooling ability. On my last Suburban, my engine and transmission temps would skyrocket under a load. Give me the truck.

RE: 5th gen 4runner limited

We've towed a waverunner without much issue but that 4.0l is pretty gutless. I'm sure you could handle a small travel trailer but you won't win any speed records, nor will you pass any gas stations.

RE: How do you decide how much to spend on an RV

I value shop for my trucks and my RVs. What am I spending and how much do I expect to lose when I sell. You will lose more $$$ over time with an $80k RV. You'll have to decide if the additional amenities are worth the extra cost. They may be. Personally, I want my RV and my cake, too. But I work and I can only camp 4-5 weeks out of a year. It's just not worth a hefty investment for me. I may think differently upon retirement when I have more time to spend in it. My $.02.

RE: Radiator style radiant heaters

I have two compact 700w that I space out in the camper along with a 350w outlet heater in the bathroom. My rig is small (26' box with one slide) but it keeps me pretty comfy. And if that doesn't work, I can always run an extension cord from the pedestal for an additional space heater.

RE: 2024 Super Duty Order Banks

IDK but we just bid 3 fleet vehicles at work and nobody has replied. Same thing happended last year because nobody could guarantee a build and delivery within 365 days. I think dealer stock is probably your best bet.

RE: hauling capability

My 2017 6.2l came with the camper package and the maximum camper weight was way under the payload rating. Never made sense to me but one of the many reasons I shied from a truck camper.

RE: Towing

More tongue weight is almost always better...so long as you don't overload the truck. If you are saying too much weight up front is better than too much weight in the back, I would agree, but even with a 3/4 ton you can raise your front end considerably if you aren't balancing the load.
